Maydi
Pale, citrus-bright and almost entirely free of bitterness — chewed, burned and traded as the finest frankincense on earth for millennia.
Unlike every other frankincense, B. frereana contains no boswellic acids: its resin is nearly pure oleo-resin, which is why it melts clean, burns without soot and yields an unusually fine essential oil. The best tears, known in the trade as Mushaad, are large, dry and pale as amber glass. We buy them at the tree, before they are blended down.

Beeyo
The frankincense of the world's great fragrance houses — deep, resinous, faintly sweet, with the incense character no synthetic has replaced.
B. carterii is rich in α-pinene and boswellic acids, making it the workhorse of both fine fragrance and the wellness industry. Our lots are harvested in the second tapping, when the tears are largest and driest, then sorted into three colour classes at our Bosaso facility before a single kilo is offered. Our carterii stands sit on the same Cal Madow escarpment as the Maydi, on the Sanaag side of the range.

Myrrh
Dark, balsamic and medicinally bitter — myrrh anchors a perfume the way a bass note anchors a chord, and has been pharmacopoeia material for three thousand years.
Our myrrh is wild-collected Commiphora myrrha from the thorn scrub below the frankincense line. We select for the reddish-brown, semi-translucent lumps with visible white striations — the marker of true myrrha, free of the opopanax and low-grade commiphoras that dilute commodity lots.

The grade ladder
Three grades, one written standard
Grading is done by hand against size, colour, clarity and non-resin content. The same lot number follows the material from the sorting table to the pallet.
Grade A is the selection buyers approve against photographs; Grade B carries mixed size and colour at a working price; Grade C is distillation and industrial feedstock. Full definitions on the quality page.
